Over the weekend Katsina State Governor; Rt. Hon Aminu Bello Masari played host to the Forum of Parents and Guardians whose children are studying in various institutions of higher learning abroad.

This was disclosed during a joint courtesy visit by the parents and the Katsina State Students at the Muhammadu Buhari House  Katsina State Seat of Government, where they were full of appreciation for their host.

@Katgovmedia gathered that the Chairman of the forum gave a breakdown as follows:
N512,000,000 outstanding payments inherited from the previous government; N26,000,000 as spill over outstanding and returning cases; while $319,000 is for medical students in Jordan and Sudan.            He further commended the Governor, without whom the effort of the children would have been wasted as most of them would have returned home to state afresh.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Higher Education, Dr. Usman Ruwan Godiya who expressed happiness as the Governor met both students and parents, described the moment as his happiest since his emergence at the position.

He further stated that when the sponsored students come back to the country, they will make Katsina different.

Ruwan Godiya also presented to the Governor some of the trained students who had completed their studies.

The Governor while responding, thanked the parents and the students, saying the payment is the right of the students as they also are citizens of Katsina State as the state resources are employed in sponsoring them.

Katsina Media and Publicity recounts that Masari, further called on the parents to try and find out the status of their children more especially those studying abroad.

He said with the advent of the Internet, parents can track academic records of children.

On drug-abuse he charged the parents to be vigilant; they should search the bags of their female children, as well as conduct checks on excessive late night chats and phone calls as they are mostly used for negative purposes.
