Rising from a meeting held at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna on Saturday, members of the North-West  Governors Forum who deliberated on several issues regarding the sub-region's progress and development say  they have rolled out adequate  measures to stop the wanton killings and destruction of innocent lives in the zone.

@katgovmedia reports that Governor of Katsina State, Rt.Hon. Aminu Bello Masari while speaking on behalf of the Governors, after the meeting stated that the essential feature of the meeting was to integrate the zone into one viable economic entity.

He said after a marathon meeting, the governors resolved to look at three key areas which include; economic development, agriculture, and education.

According to him, “We have taken into account that these three areas are key factors to the integration of the zone and each of the North-west Governors is very passionate about it.”

Katsina Media and Publicity correspondents recount that Masari added that; “if you tackle education squarely, the spate of killings in the zone and other zones will end.”

He observed that the Governors have taken measures to end the incessant killings in the zone, one of which is to strengthen their borders in order to checkmate
the influx of criminals.

Masari also said agriculture is another area that, the Governors felt will lead to economic growth, noting that the zone has vast mineral resources that are still untapped.

“We are looking at it to see how we will engage thousands of our youths that are roaming the streets without jobs.”

The Governor expressed disappointment at the absence of some of his colleagues during the meeting on the security of the sub-region.

He said however, “It will not hinder the discussions or delay the meeting, we must devise means of continuing with the meeting even when the Governors are not in attendance.”

Masari, who is equally the chairman of the security committee inaugurated by the Northern Governors Forum, tasked his colleagues to separate politics from security, emphasizing that security is of more paramount importance than politics as it affects life.

He said it was important to evolve ways of sustaining attendance not only by the Governors, but also their Deputies and SSGs.

As earlier reported by @katgovmedia, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Governors of Sokoto, Jigawa and Kaduna States and Secretaries to the State Government of the two states, and that of Katsina.

The meeting resolved to provide a blueprint and agenda to be deliberated upon during their next meeting.

Recall that Katsina Media and Publicity had on Saturday reported Governor masari chairing the meeting. Masari, is an ardent believer in a peaceful society, as Katsina State enjoy relative peace in the sub-region.
