Exposed: Nurse who uses Voodoo lands in Jail

A Nurse-turned-brothel madam who used voodoo to control five vulnerable young women has been jailed for 14 years.               

NHS agency worker Josephine Iyamu, 51, smuggled her victims - aged 24 to 30 - from Nigeria to Germany after they vowed to make her a fortune as prostitutes.





Josephine Iyamu received a 14-year jail sentence at Birmingham Crown Court.
                                                                                                       
During a voodoo ceremony, they were warned they would be "killed by the devil" if they broke their oath.
                                                     
Iyamu's racket was smashed by the National Crime Agency, German police and authorities in Nigeria.
                                                               
In a landmark case, she was found guilty last week of human trafficking offences at Birmingham Crown Court.
Judge Richard Bond told her yesterday: "You showed a complete disregard for the welfare of these women. You saw them not as human beings but as commodities to earn you large sums of money."

Iyamu is the first person charged under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 which allows British nationals to be prosecuted for human trafficking offences committed abroad.
                                                                 
A British citizen since 2009, Iyamu made so much cash she bought a flat in London and a mansion in Nigeria.
                                                         
John Benson, QC, defending, told the court that politician’s daughter Iyamu had “lost everything” as a result of her conviction.
                                                           
Her hopes of pursuing her own political career in Nigeria have now vanished, he said.
