Saturday,  May 26, human and vehicular traffic will come to a standstill as the people of Uyo Senatorial District plan to converge on Uyo Township Stadium for a mega reception and solidarity rally in honour of Gov. Udom Emmanuel ahead of 2019.

This and more were disclosed  Wednesday, after the stakeholders' meeting of the people of the Senatorial district held at the State House of Assembly where preparations for a successful outing were formalized.

Addressing the gathering, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Barr. Onofiok Luke hailed elders of the District for supporting and standing by the truth, saying the decision to support Governor Emmanuel for a second term in office in 2019 was a step in the right direction.

Also speaking at the meeting, Senator Effiong Bob pointed out that Uyo Senatorial District will never allow another political party to truncate the already established zoning system in the state. While restating his support for the re-election bid of Governor Emmanuel, Senator Bob noted that in order to sustain the tempo of development witnessed in the state under the leadership of Governor Emmanuel, the people of the District have decided to further affirm their support for the Governor's re-election.

"I am pleased at this meeting. Uyo Senatorial District has a duty to lead the way for others to follow. Why we have decided to support Udom is so that (speaking in vernacular... he maintained "so that ndito ino") will not enter your house and cart away what belongs to you".

"If you don't allow Udom to go for a second term, Uyo Senatorial district will lose out in 2023. Uyo Senatorial district will not be fooled by any fake contract papers".

Bob hailed a former APC Chieftain, Hon. Emmanuel Obot and Chief Akpaudo for returning to the PDP.

On his part, another PDP chieftain from the senatorial district, Senator Anietie Okon applauded members of the senatorial district for the unity of purpose exhibited by them, maintaining that a second term for Udom Emmanuel is a done deal.

Others who lend their voice in solidarity with the Governor's re-election and the planned reception rally were the State Chairman of the PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, former Military Administrator of the state, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, Senator Bassey Albert (represented by his aide, Mr Udoh alias North-South), former NDDC Chairman, Amb. Sam Edem, former House of Assembly member, Dr. Mrs. Ekaette Okon, International President of ACA, and Chairman, Assembly Service Commission, Bishop Andrew Unwanta, Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Hon. Imo Okon, Snr. Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Comrade Aniefiok Iwaudofia among others, assured of their preparedness to mobilize their various units for the success of the event.

The nine local local government areas that make up the senatorial district are Uyo, Uruan, Nsit-Atai, Ibesikpo Asutan, Nsit-Ubium, Nsit-Ibom, Etinan, Itu, and Ibiono Ibom.
