Hours before the football match between Nigeria's Super Eagles and Athletico Madrid of Spain, Tuesday, 22nd May, 2018 at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium (Nest Of Champions), the Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Marcelino Ansorena, arrived in Akwa Ibom State for the match, and without ceremonies proceeded to pay homage to the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel at Government House, Uyo.

Insiders along the corridors of power in Uyo say beyond the football diplomacy that was displayed on the turf, new vistas translating into developmental tangibles have been opened for the state.
