Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu Consolidates, Thanks PDP Delegates In Advance For Choosing Him as their Preferred Candidate in the Guber Primaries

By Innocent Imoh

Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu Friday hosted the over two thousand PDP statutory delegates across Imo State in what could largely be regarded as a consolidation and thank you meeting just as the governorship primaries is a few days away.

Senator Anyanwu who is the leading governorship aspirant of the PDP said the occasion was to appreciate the delegates for the love and solidarity they have shown him since he declared interest to contest the governorship primaries under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said the solidarity is unprecedented considering that he just joined the race barely seven months ago. The governorship hopeful stated that he joined the race because of calls by well meaning Imolites for him to come and liberate the State based on his political antecedents and relationships with majority of Imo people, while stressing that the kind of support he has seen so far can only confirm that his mandate is divine.

The former executive chairman of Ikeduru LGA and two time State lawmaker pointed out that his decision to contest the party primaries is borne out of his desire to see PDP back in power because the people of the State has suffered untold hardship and deprivation, and the party needs a man that has mass appeal and peoples goodwill to win the general election against a ruling party.
Senator Anyanwu who currently represents Owerri Zone in the Senate and the highest political office holder of the party in the State explained that the decision of majority of the delegates to vote for him in the primaries is the best thing to happen to the party as the party cannot afford to lose the general elections like was the case in 2015.

He promised to strengthen the party when elected as the next governor of the State, and to also carry party officers along in the scheme of things.
Some of the delegates in their responses commended Senator Anyanwu's spirit and his hard work, which according to them has made him the candidate to beat in the forthcoming primaries.
They told him that the only thing he needs to do now is to protect his votes on Sunday because they are confident majority of the delegates will vote for him.

It will be recalled that Senator Anyanwu has since his declaration seven months ago visited the delegates at the three zonal levels across the State, the LGA's level and consummated it with the consolidation meeting.

This feat many argue is a show of capacity, having been able to convince most of the party's delegates with issues based campaign during this period.
