Salary Arrears: Bayelsa State Govt assures workers of full payment

Posted By Tony Okechukwu

The Bayelsa State Government has dismissed rumours making the rounds that the salary arrears of workers will be paid by reducing two steps based on the report of the Committee on Commencement and Progression.

The Head of the Civil Service, Rev. Thomas Zidafamo said there is no truth in it as those spreading the falsehood are only interested in using that to discredit the government.
In a statement on Monday, Rev. Zidafamo called on workers to discountenance the rumour as the government had never at anytime contemplated taken such decision.

He explained that the State Government is taking steps to ensure the payment of the arrears without the so-called purported deductions and very soon it will meet that obligation.

While maintaining that the rumour is intended to establish a frosty relationship between the government, workers in the state and the organized Labour, the Head of Service urged them to disregard the false information.
