NMA AKS Congratulates Paul Usoro,SAN

The Nigerian Medical Association, Akwa Ibom State Branch has congratulated Barr. Paul Usoro, SAN on his emergence as President of Nigerian Bar Association ( NBA).

In a statement which was signed by the NMA Chairman AKS branch, Dr Nsikak Paul Nyoyoko, FWACS, the NMA described the new NBA President as Akwa Ibom's gift to the bar.

The message read in part "Your trailblazing efforts in the realm of law, particularly telecoms law has earned you the affectionate title of 'The Prince of Telecom' as not much can be said about the Nigerian Communications Act and indeed Nigeria's telecoms  laws without a prominent mention of your name.

Your success at the bar is well-deserved and we have no doubt that you will reposition the Bar to work to promote social justice, protect human rights, preserve the rule of law and ensure good governance.

As we call for more professional collaboration between the NMA and the NBA, kindly accept our heartfelt congratulations ", the message ended.

GOs Protest Fraudulent Election Results in Bayelsa

Posted By Tony Okechukwu Members of various non-governmental organisations and civil society groups in Bayelsa State, on Wednesday, staged a peaceful protest over the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in some parts of the state. Comrade Toitoi Newton of the Grassroots For Development, who led the protest to the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Yenagoa, told journalists that the CSOs demand a cancellation of the purported results from Constituency 4 in Southern Ijaw council and Nembe-Bassambiri in Nembe council where election materials were carted away. According to Comrade Newton, elections did not hold in the seven wards of Nembe-Bassambiri due to the violence orchestrated by political thugs aided by security personnel deployed in the community.
