The All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State has announced the temporary suspension of the membership registration and revalidation exercise of the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sources at the party say they are disappointed at the low turn out of people to register with the party.

"It has become embarrassing that everyday registration points are opened and only very few people come out. It is a bad image for the party".

Some of the people who registered with the APC say they were uncomfortable with the party demanding for their PVC details and number.

There has been several complaints to security agencies on the APC's strategy to collect PVC numbers from unsuspecting members of the public.

In a release signed by Chairman, Revalidation/Registration of Membership Committee, Dr. Amadu Atai

"The decision is taken to ensure that the party focus and attend to issues demanding urgent attention. We commend members for the supporting for the exercise thus far. A date for the recommencement of the exercise shall be communicated soon"
