Raid on Pa Clark’s House: Gov Dickson Calls on Police Authorities to Apologize to Nigerians

The Governor of Bayelsa State, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, has called on the police authorities to apologize Nigerians over the unfortunate assault on the privacy of Ijaw National Leader and former Federal Commissioner,nPa Edwin Clark, by policemen on Tuesday.

The Governor condemned in strong terms the police raid on the Abuja residence  of Ijaw National Leader and Elder Statesman, Pa Edwin Clark.

A statement by Special Adviser to the Governor of Media Relations quoted him as having described the police action as reprehensible, shocking and condemnable.

He said that the smacks of so much desperation, callousness and insensitivity in a country under democratic governance.

Governor Dickson said that Police action showed lack of respect for leaders in Nigeria  and the people of the Niger Delta  who have made continued efforts to ensure the prevalence of peace in the region.

The Governor wondered how the police and indeed any security agency could associate a 92 year old man and acclaimed leader of the Niger Delta with gunrunning.

He stressed that it was inconceivable, preposterous and indeed calllous on the part of anybody or agency to subject the 92 year old former Federal Commissioner for Information with gunrunning.

The Governor stated further that the police action was indeed an insult and an embarrassment which signified that law and order and broken down in the country.

The Governor called on the police authorities and those who authorised the embarrassing raid on the residence of the nonagenarian leader to tender an apology for the reckless action without delay.

He said, I condemned in very strong terms the recent raid on the residence of Ijaw National Leader, our father, Chief Edwin Clark.

The police action signifies the height of callousness, insensitivity, and embarrassment not only to the person of the 92 year old leader but also to the Niger Delta and indeed all Nigerians of good conscience.

It is shocking, inconceivable and preposterous for anybody to associate  Pa Clark, a former Federal Commissioner, and Senator and a Leader of his people  with gunrunning at the age of 91. This is sad and unacceptable.

“I call on all those behind this infamy to retrace their steps and tender an unreserved apology to Pa Clark and Nigerians without any further delay.

He urged the relevant authorities to punish those responsible for the action.

GOs Protest Fraudulent Election Results in Bayelsa
