Man, 22, Kills Mum For Protesting Love Affair with Aunt

A 22 year-old man, Agaezichi Ogbonna, has killed his mother after the woman protested an incestuous affair he was having with his aunt who happens to be his mother’s younger sister.
The incident which occurred on Saturday June 16, in Akpaa Mbato community, Obingwa Council Area of Abia State, immediately drew the attention of the police who swooped in and arrested the mother killer.
According to eye-witness report, Ogbonna and his aunt were caught in a compromising posture when his mother, whose name was given as Blessing Ogbonna, walked in on them.
Ogbonna was said to have flared up at the mother who barged in on them and in anger, attacked her, beating her to death.
When the love birds discovered that Blessing was dead, they tried to make their escape. Ogbonna was said to have been apprehended by youths in the community who immediately, handed him over to the soldiers stationed in the community, who in turn handed him over to the police.
A member of the community who spoke under anonymity said; “The boy was having a love affair with his mother’s sister. The love affair has been going on for a long time. But his mother kept warning him against it.
“Everybody in this village has been warning the boy against the love affair because it is a taboo in Igbo land. Any time his mother warns him to stop the love affair with her sister, Agaezichi will beat the woman.
“Yesterday, his mother saw him with the girl and warned about the consequences of their love affair and Agaezich rained blows on the woman. She fell to the ground and died. When they saw, she has died, they ran away but Agaezichi was arrested by some youths while his girlfriend escaped.”
