BREAKING: EX-IGP GAMBO JIMETA IS DEAD

Another loss of high profile person has hit Adamawa State as a former Inspector-General of Police, Gambo Jimeta, has reportedly died.

Premium Times reports that a close family friend said Mr Jimeta, who hails from Adamawa state, died in the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja.

The death of the former police boss brings to three the number of prominent personalities from the state to die this week.

The Chief of Staff to Governor Mohammed Jibrilla, Abdulrahman Abba, died in Makkah, Saudi Arabia on Monday while a former first lady of the state, Zainab Nyako, also died early Wednesday in Yola.

Mrs Nyako was wife of former governor Murtala Nyako. She will be buried Wednesday afternoon in Yola.

GOs Protest Fraudulent Election Results in Bayelsa

Posted By Tony Okechukwu Members of various non-governmental organisations and civil society groups in Bayelsa State, on Wednesday, staged a peaceful protest over the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in some parts of the state. Comrade Toitoi Newton of the Grassroots For Development, who led the protest to the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Yenagoa, told journalists that the CSOs demand a cancellation of the purported results from Constituency 4 in Southern Ijaw council and Nembe-Bassambiri in Nembe council where election materials were carted away. According to Comrade Newton, elections did not hold in the seven wards of Nembe-Bassambiri due to the violence orchestrated by political thugs aided by security personnel deployed in the community.
