"YOU CAN'T FIGHT POVERTY WITHOUT EDUCATION"- Masari to Science teachers Association

By Innocent Imoh

Katsina State Governor, Rt. Hon Aminu Bello Masari, has reiterated the need for the use of Education as an instrument to fight poverty in Nigeria.

Katsina Media and Publicity reports that the Governor disclosed this while receiving the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) Monday at the Muhammadu Buhari House, the seat of Katsina State Government.

Masari who was offering feasible solutions to the myriads of problems in the country said "education does not mean learning how to read, speak and write, for an English-born and brought-up could do all, but still remain unproductive, adding productivity is what determines education".

The Governor also called for the the saturation of the educational system to cater for practical science as he calls for teaching of the sciences even in primary schools.

The President of SPAN, Mr. Mohammed E. Mouloud in his address explained to the Governor that since the association was established in 1957, it remained non-political/religious and non-profit making organization, as its cardinal aim is the promotion of co-operation among Science Teachers in the country with the view of raising the standard of Science Education.

Mouloud added that their contribution to national development is modest as they had spearheaded major curriculum development of the subject matter in the country.

Our correspondents report that STAN was in the state for its 59th Annual Conference scheduled for 13- 18 August this year, with the theme of the conference being  "STEM AND ECONOMIC GROWTH"

@katgovmedia reveals that the Katsina State Government had recruited over 5,000 science teachers to add to the existing strength.
