LEWA visits former Speaker, Hail First Lady on Women Empowerment

Members of the Legislators Wives Association, LEWA, Akwa Ibom State, have expressed gratitude to the First Lady of the State, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, for her strong commitment to developing the capacity of members of their association, and Akwa Ibom women in general.
The women said that the First Lady has shown in multiple ways, her dedication to enhancing the productive capacity of Akwa Ibom women through continuous trainings and workshops.
The lawmakers’ wives said this on Wednesday while paying a courtesy visit to the member representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, in his office at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
The women, led by the wife of the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs. Itohowo Aniekan Bassey, said that they were in Abuja to participate in a women-based workshop facilitated by the First Lady.
She thanked the Federal lawmaker for receiving them with open arms, while reiterating the readiness of LEWA to partner the Office of the Federal lawmaker in furtherance of their support for the development of Akwa Ibom women.
Responding, Barr. Onofiok Luke, who is the immediate past Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State legislature, thanked the women for sparing their time to visit him despite their heavy schedule in Abuja. He assured the legislators' wives of his committed partnership towards enhancing the welfare of Akwa Ibom women. He hinted that his representation agenda has been broadened in scope to cover beyond his Federal constituency.
The immediate past Speaker expressed deep appreciation to the First Lady of the State, Mrs. Martha Emmanuel, for her numerous development initiatives aimed at strengthening the productive capacity of Akwa Ibom women.
Barr. Luke urged members of LEWA to always remember the leadership of the State in their prayers. He promised to continue to support the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey for the development and prosperity of the Akwa Ibom people.
