Organisers of the Governor Seriake Dickson Football Tournament has called on lovers of soccer to brace up for another edition of Bayelsa's biggest football competition, "The Restoration Cup 2019".

In a statement, signed by the Director General, Ono Akpe in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital, urged willing teams and clubs to get ready and begin their preparations ahead of the tournament.

According to him, the amount for registeration still stand at five thousand naira only(#5000), as he called on all teams willing to participate in the competition, to follow strictly, the rules guiding the competition, especially in the area of fielding ineligible player(s).

"We are glad to inform Bayelsans that we want to commence the third edition of the Restoration Cup, and as usual, the competition is open to all communities, Churches, tertiary institutions, and even security agencies and para-military outfits are welcome to participate. We are opening the competition to every group, as long they as resident and operating in Bayelsa state. However, we want to warn teams not to poach players from outside the state, as we will disqualify any team found culpable".

The Director General took out time to celebrate the Ewoama FC of Brass, and Peretorugbene community of Ekeremor, winners of the first and second edition of the Restoration Cup, as well as the selected team that that participated at this year's African Youth Cup in Cape Verde.


"At the end of the third edition, players will aslo be selected to take part in next year's edition of the African Youth Cup, or any other foreign invitational tournament we get. The whole idea is exposing Bayelsa youths, especially those who want to take football as their career. We are already working with several partners that have indicated interest in the tournament, so all I can say is another round of exciting competition is close, so Bayelsans should get ready".

Ono Akpe, once again, commended the Bayelsa state Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson for his dedication to football and sports development, alongside other sports stakeholders, corporate bodies, Media houses, as well as individuals who have contributed to the success of the Restoration Cup, since its inception in 2015.

Forms for the third edition are already on sale, and interested teams should pay at any Sterling Bank in Yenagoa, then proceed to the Ijaw House, along Sank Abach Expressway to pick up their forms.

The deadline for purchase of forms had been fixed for May 30th.

However, the Restoration Starlets will this Thursday, take on the Federal University of Otuoke Football Team tomorrow(Thursday) at 3pm, at the Samson Siasia stadium.

The friendly game, which is a way of welcoming them back from the African Youth Cup, will have the Sports Commissioner, Buruboyefe Perekiye, alongside other sports Stakeholders in the state, as guests.
