Include Bayelsa In The New Targeted $76.25bn Investment Plan, Gov. Aspirant, Hon. Romeo Bekeyei Urges Buhari

 A governorship aspirant from Bayelsa State, Hon. Romeo Bekeyei has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to include the state in the new targeted $76.25bn Nigerian Investment Plan.


The Federal Government target plan from some of its newly-licensed free trade zones, is expected to generate job opportunities for thousands of Nigerians.

The aspirant noted that statistics from Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) revealed that about one million, three hundred (1,300,00) jobs would be created through these avenues.

The newly-licensed free trade zones, which cut across Lagos, Delta and other states, Hon Bekeyei said it would be better if also replicated in Bayelsa to generate Jobs for youths in the state.

He said that through this means, youths restiveness and other form of vices would be addressed as the youths, who, were idle would be gainfully employed.                                          .                                                               
Recently, the Federal Government rolled out a $76.9bn investments target plan from some of its newly-licensed free trade zones.         

Statistics obtained from the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority reveal that the zones are expected to boost the country’s industrialisation as well as the economic diversification agenda of the Federal Government.
In line with the Nigeria Industrial Revolution Plan, the government is looking towards using industrial zones to attract requisite investments that will develop sectors in which the country enjoys significant comparative and competitive advantages.
                                                       
The free trade zones pencilled down in the plan include the Nigeria International Commerce City, (Eko-Atlantic),  expected to attract investment of $38bn and create about one million jobs; the Nigeria Centenary City, Abuja - about $18bn investment and 70,000 job opportunities;  Ogidigben Industrial City, Delta State -  about N15bn investment and  100,000 jobs; Maritime Economic City,  Badagry - about $2.8bn investment and  15,000 direct jobs; Badagry Creek Integrated Industrial Park - a total investment of $1.3bn and about 23,000 direct jobs.
Others are Ogogoro Industrial Park - $160m investment and 30,000 jobs; Nigeria Aviation Handling Company Free Trade Zone - $22m and over 5,000 jobs; Dangote Free Trade Zone -  $12bn worth of investments;  Tomaro Industrial Park, Lagos is estimated to provide an investment of $450m, while Quits Aviation Services Free Zone, is expected to generate investment worth $215m.
