Gov. Buni declares state of emergency on education in Yobe

Yobe state governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has declared a state of emergency on both primary and secondary education in the state. The governor, who was sworn-in some minutes ago stated this while reading his inaugural speech at Banquet Hall of the Government House in Damaturu.

The governor noted that the decision was to consolidate on the solid foundation put in place by his predecessor, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam. He also promised to provide one healthcare centre in each of the 178 political wards in the state, and to provide tractors to farmers at the beginning of every rainy season across the 17 local government areas of the state.

On infrastructure, he promised to complete roads inherited from the outgoing administration and construct new ones in Gujba/Ngalda, Tikau- Jajere; Dogo kuka Jajere; and Yusufari Machina, among others. The governor said he would construct modern markets in major towns  of Potiskum, Damaturu, Gashua, Nguru, Gaidam, Buni Yadi, Ngalda and provide befitting trailer parks in Potiskum and some other towns. He further revealed that his administration would resuscitate the state-owned  companies that have been laying fallow for many years to improve the revenue drive of the state.
