Hon. Bekeyei, a youth leader, peace builder cum security expert, in his keynote address, expressed his continuous  concern for the common good of the Ijaw people, as well as the development of Bayelsa State in particular and Ijaw Nation in general.

The event which was put together by the Abuja Chapter of the Ijaw Community Association Abuja (ICAA), had in attendance President Muhammad Buhari, ably represented by his Special Adviser on Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme,  Chief (Prof.) Charles Quaker Dokubo; Elder Timi K. Alale, chairman - Board of Trustees ICAA; Chief Onimim DWK Batubo, chairman - ICAA; representatives of the  Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide,  amongst others.

Pouring encomiums on the late hero, Bekeyei, said "Adaka Boro  was a true hero and a remarkable freedom fighter who will always be  remembered by his people".

Continuing, he said "Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro was a great nationalist. It is not only remarkable, but also sublime that every year on this day, we remember and admire his great courage and ambition for his people of the South-South Nigeria and the Niger-Delta region. We will always remember his unflinching drive for true patriotism".

"He believed in a just cause for the emancipation of his people. He was patriotic to Nigeria and he was patriotic to his people. He didn't believe nor did he pursue ethnic hatred or vengeful mission. He simply believed in freedom and peaceful coexistence. He was a man of the people".

While emphasizing his call for the Ijaw youths to live a focused life, he said "Values which this enigmatic figure of a free world lived by, today makes the whole world to celebrate him as a great individual, whose mind was filled with an undiluted passion to collectively fight for the entire people of the Niger-Delta. He was not beclouded by emotions of self desire but a desire to uphold the will of the entire region. This should be our drive and most especially the drive of our youths as we all remember and celebrate him".

Highpoints of the epoch event were presentation of awards to deserving personalities like Prof Dokubo amongst other, display of Ijaw Traditional Boat Regatta, music interlude by Chief Barrister Smooth and others, masquerade dance displays and traditional wrestling.
