   ....UNODC, NDLEA Commend Bayelsa Effort Against Scourge Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has bemoaned the effect of drug use and abuse on Nigerian youths, saying it was destroying their future. Speaking at the Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall of the Government House, Yenagoa, during a Stakeholders Mega Sensitisation Campaign on Drug Abuse and Prevention, Governor Diri said the commitment of his administration to eradication of the scourge was premised on its adverse effect on the society.  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has explained why his administration was focusing on development of skills acquisition through establishment of colleges of science and technical education in every local government area of the state. Senator Diri said there was a real need to change the narrative on unemployment in the state in the light of an increasingly digitalised global economy. The governor stated this at the Local Content Tower in Yenagoa on Tuesday during the grand finale of the Nigerian Content Science and Technology Innovation Challenge (STIC).  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has commended his father, Pa Abraham Diri, for the sacrifices he made for his children.  Speaking at Saint Peter's Anglican Church, Sampou in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area on Sunday during a service in honour of his 85-year-old father, Governor Diri described him as a compassionate man who never joked with his fatherly duties.  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has urged the Federal Government to build a permanent site for the Federal Government College, Odi in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the state and relinquish the current complex to its former occupants, Government Secondary School. Governor Diri made the request on Saturday at a reception held in honour by his former classmates of the 1981 Set at Government Secondary School, Odi.
