Banigo Expresses Delight With The Smooth Conduct Of The 2021 Local Govt Council Polls

Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Mrs Ipalibo Harry Banigo has expressed delight with the smooth conduct of the 2021 Local Government Council Elections in the State.

Dr. Banigo expressed this shortly after casting her vote at Ward 14, unit 10, in Obuama, Degema Local Government Area, on Saturday, 17th April 2021.


According   to  Dr. Banigo,  the people are enthused that they have been given the opportunity to come out and vote for Chairmen and councillors that would represent them in their various units, wards and LGAs. 

The Deputy Governor, who  noted that we would have a better outlook of our democracy in Nigeria and the state, if we continue to hold onto the tenets of democracy, commended the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission for the smooth conduct of the polls.

GOs Protest Fraudulent Election Results in Bayelsa

Posted By Tony Okechukwu Members of various non-governmental organisations and civil society groups in Bayelsa State, on Wednesday, staged a peaceful protest over the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in some parts of the state. Comrade Toitoi Newton of the Grassroots For Development, who led the protest to the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Yenagoa, told journalists that the CSOs demand a cancellation of the purported results from Constituency 4 in Southern Ijaw council and Nembe-Bassambiri in Nembe council where election materials were carted away. According to Comrade Newton, elections did not hold in the seven wards of Nembe-Bassambiri due to the violence orchestrated by political thugs aided by security personnel deployed in the community.
