Rotary Club Honours Gov Ishaku, Praises Him for The Rapid Transformation of Taraba State
Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, has commended Rotary International for its love and service to humanity.
Gov. Ishaku gave the commendation at an induction ceremony of the club in Jalingo on Saturday where he was also given an award.
Ishaku said he had followed and monitored the impressive efforts of Rotary which has eventually led to the wiping away of polio from Nigeria.
He said the achievement took a lot of painstaking sensitisation and investment of resources, adding that Nigerians, particularly its teeming youths would be the better for it.
He also told the audience that his administration has invested a lot of resources to make life better for the people of the state and promised to do more within the remaining lifespan of his administration.
He said he has successfully put Taraba State ahead of other states in Northern Nigeria in the area of education. From about 16 percent in WAEC performance which his administration inherited in 2015, the administration has raised the level to 85 percent in 2019. This achievement took a lot of hard work and investment of resources, he said.
He also spoke of the achievements of the administration in empowerment. He said thousands of women and youths have become gainfully engaged through the skills acquisition training programmes sponsored by his administration and complemented by the Hope Afresh Foundation, a welfare organisation founded by Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku, his wife.
He thanked the Rotary Club of Jalingo for the award given him and congratulated their members for their services to the state. He urged members to rededicate themselves to the service of the people.
Speaking earlier, a member of the club, Joshua Hassan, praised Ishaku for providing a focused leadership which has led to the rapid transformation of the state.
