The Gombe State Government has purchased 50 brand new buses for Gombe Line, its transportation company, in an effort to sustain and improve the public transport sector in the State.
Governor Muhammmad Inuwa Yahaya disclosed this during an inspection of five refurbished fire fighting vehicles, Thursday, in Gombe.
He said that the purchase of the new buses was to give comfort to passengers patronising public transport, in line with his administration’s commitment to the well-being and safety of the people.
He also decried the neglect of public vehicles and properties by the immediate past administration, adding that the State Fire Service had only one functional fire fighting vehicle serving the Gombe metropolis.
The Governor added that refurbishing of the fire fighting vehicles is to instill the culture of maintenance in the civil service.
He added that all abandoned government vehicles are being assessed across the State, to determine the ones to be serviced and put back to use.
