9th Thanksgiving: Gov. Diri Thanks Bayelsans
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has expressed gratitude to people of the state and the dignitaries from across the country for making Monday's 9th Bayelsa Thanksgiving Day memorable.
The governor in his opening remarks at the 11th State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday at the Government House, Yenagoa, said thanksgiving was important to mankind and to God.
He thanked former President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, immediate past governor of the state, Chief Seriake Dickson as well as General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Apostle David Zilly-Aggrey, other clerics and all those who contributed to the success of the event.
His words: "The state has every reason to appreciate God given the numerous challenges it has been confronted with.
"I also thank Bayelsans for the overwhelming support. You have shown to the world that we are one Bayelsa. And if not for anything, for the peace and calm that is in the state.
"At the end of the #EndSARS protests, Bayelsa was the only state in the South of Nigeria that did not witness any act of vandalism, looting and violence. For that reason and more, we thank God, and I pray that the peace and unity will continue."
