S/COURT RULING ON BAYELSA 2019: YOUR VICTORY IS REMARKABLE - PDP GOVS FORUM TELLS DUOYE

In the aftermath of  the Monday, February 13, 2020 Supreme Court judgement on the November 2019 Gubernatorial Elections, the PDP Governors Forum, has congratulated the duo of Senator Diri Duruoye and Senator Lawrence Ewhruojakpo, on their emergence as Governor -elect and Deputy Governor- elect respectively of Bayelsa State.

In a press statement signed by  the Director General of the Forum, Hon. CID MADUABUM, LL.M, the forum while congratulating Senators Duoye
and Ewhruojakpo said:

"Your victory is all the more remarkable as it reaffirms the fact that God is in charge of the affairs of men. It shows that the truth and the peoples will would ultimately triumph. This is a great victory for democracy and rule of law.

"As we welcome you to the PDP Governors' Forum we ask God to give you the wisdom and strength to steer the ship of Bayelsa State aright.

"We implore you to carry everyone along and run an inclusive government worthy of the ideals of the PDP Governors' family.

Earlier in the day with barely 24 hours to his inuaguration the Supreme Court had sacked Mr David Lyon as Governor Elect of Bayelsa State.

A five-man panel of the apex court presided by Justice Mary Peter-Odili nullified the election of Lyon on the grounds that his deputy, Senator biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo presented false information to INEC in aid of his qualification for the November 16 governorship election in Bayelsa State.

The apex court in the judgment delivered by Justice Ejembi Eko consequently ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to withdraw the certificate of Return issued to Lyon and Degi-Eremienyo.

Justice Eko also ordered that INEC immediately declare the party with the highest number of lawful votes and geographical spread.

With the judgment of the apex court, candidate of the PDP, Diri Duoye will now be inuagurated as governor of Bayelsa State.
