Isiguzo beats incumbent Odusile to emerge NUJ President.

Mr. Chris Isiguzo of Thisday newspapers has defeated the incumbent Waheed Odusile and emerged president of the Nigeria union of journalists NUJ.

At the keenly-contested election held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Chris Isiquzo of This day newspapers polled 346 Votes to beat his closest rival, the incumbent president Waheed Odusile who polled 329 votes.

According to the result as announced by the returning officer, Benson Upah, Dele Atunbi of NTApolled 101 votes,
Abiodun Olalere 56 votes, Seiyefa Uzaka a Director with the Bayelsa state ministry of information , 30 votes, Jacob Edi polled 16 votes, Otunba Mike Aladenika 8 votes.

Meanwhile waheed odusile and Dele Atubi have already congratulated the winner, Mr Isiguzo Christopher Cfr
In the other news, suspected armed robbers have attacked some members of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Ebonyi State Council returning from their triennial delegate conference held in Abeokuta Ogun State, leaving one dead and another injured.

The Journalists were attacked at Nkalagu section of Enugu Abakaliki Highway last night when their fourteen seater bus driven by one of them, Mr Peter Okutu of Vanguard Newspapers ran into a road block mounted by the suspected hoodlums.

Reports say the remains of the deceased Journalist have been deposited in a mortuary while Mr Okutu who sustained machete cut is receiving treatment at Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki.
Correspondent Amechi Odo reports that about thirteen Journalists were involved in the attack.
