Orbih @62: Takeaways and Lessons Learnt

By Elempe Dele On Friday morning, I sent a small note to Chief Dan Osi Orbih, one of my mentors, wishing him a happy birthday anniversary. The social media was awash with birthday messages, as usual. I couldn't keep tab with hundred of messages that came thumbling in that day.  That Friday was packed full for me. After midday was the reception for the elected and appointed people from the South South by the South South Community living in Abuja. I was billed to be there as a member of the association. After the reception, which was adjudged to be one of its kinds by the guest speaker, Professor Osunbor, I left for the house of Chief, as I normally simply call him.  The place was glittering with digniteries. ...applauds FG, state government By Bashir Hassan Abubakar Amidst jubilation and fanfare,  over 5500 vulnerable members of Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Bauchi State have gotten their share of 25kg bag of rice palliative. Flagging off the distribution exercise in the 2 LGAs, Bauchi State Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Honorable Hajara Yakubu Wanka said that so far, the distribution exercise is recording a huge success. She attributed the successes recorded to the meticulous planning of the high powered committee set up by Governor Bala Mohammed, under the leadership of Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu and the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Auwal Mohammed Jatau. Education And Sports Are Tools For Youth Empowerment – Atiku

 The former vice president of Nigeria (1999-2007) His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, GCON, has advocated more investment in education and sports development in the country. He made this disclosure today when the promoters of Beautiful Tours Football Club of Abuja paid him a courtesy call in his Abuja residence. The former vice president who also holds the traditional title of Wazirin Adamawa said that the importance of sports in youth empowerment cannot be overemphasized. Apart from health benefits and job creation, Atiku observes that sporting activities are a unifying factor and an activity that will reduce youth restiveness in the land. He further disclosed that one of his grandsons is playing in the professional junior league in the UK. Atiku decried the poor state of sports facilities in the country and advised the government at all levels to invest in education and sports development.
