Ndudi Elumelu: Issele-Uku Market Road Construction Work Progresses ...We'll Deliver Project In Four Weeks - Site Engineer
The ongoing construction work on the Issele-Uku Main Market road from Issele-Uku -Idumu - Ogo road, being handled by Diamond Leeds Ltd, Abuja, has progressed considerably.
A visit to the site by a team of journalists on Thursday August 31, confirmed massive construction activities by workers under the supervision of two officials from Diamond Leeds Ltd , Mr. Alex Solomon, quantity survey and Mr. Maxwell Nwaogu, Site Engineer.
As at the time of visit, construction was on-going on the drains at the adjoining Street, Agwodugbo/Nnamdi Mohayem Street road, connecting the Issele-Uku NYSC National Orientation Camp road.
Speaking with the site engineer, Mr, Maxwell Nwaogu, he said the project which commenced in mid-July is in two phases, and confirmed they started with the phase 1, which runs from the Issele-Uku -Idumu-Ogo road, with a stop at the junction of Agwodugbo/Nnamdi Mohayem Street, that runs through the whole length of the street to Issele-Uku NYSC Orientation Camp.
Mr. Maxwell Nwaogu, the site engineer, said the entire span of the road project is 1.3 kilometers with 2.6 kilometers drains running at both sides of the road for flood control and road durability.
He said they have achieved over sixty percent of the project, noting that over 1, 400 meters of the drainage system has been done. He also assured that with favourable weather conditions, work on the drains would be completed before 7th of September, 2023.
Nwaogu who commended the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu for his unrelenting pursuit of the project said everything needed to deliver the road project for the benefit of the people has been made possible by him. He assured that barring any unforeseen environment challenges, the entire project will be fully completed by the end of September.
"Since we commenced on this project, we are not relenting, we are working based on specifications and If weather favors us, because it's raining and we work even in the rain and it has its setback like this week we have to wait two days, but like i said by the grace of God, by first week of September we should be saying goodbye on everything drain.
"Specifically, 7th of September, everything drain should be over. While we are on the drains, we are already making arrangements, this section of the new market road, by tomorrow or next, our pay-loader will come in to cut away the rubbish and then we will start the earthwork. The earthwork, we want to follow it up because the weather is not on our side.
"I can guarantee you, before the end of September, everything about this road should be over if the weather favours us. Because we can't fill under the rain. The reason is that, if you fill and it rains, that means you have to wait for some time for the material to settle. But if the weather is favourable, we can fill, compact and get 100% CPA.
"Therefore, it is our expectation and assurance that before the ending of September, we must have completed everything that has to do with this road. Take it to the bank. I must give it to Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, who I can authoritatively tell you, has made everything possible for this road project to be done and completed as when due and according to specifications.
"We so much commend the way he pushed and financed the project. If we continue to have it like that from every other Honorable member, both in the State House and the Federal, I think Nigeria will be a better place," the official said
Mr. Maxwell Nwaogu who was in collaboration with his colleague, Mr Alex Solomon, also appreciated the Issele-Uku community, particularly, residents of the Issele-Uku Main Market road and Agwodugbo/Nnamdi Mohayem Street, for their unwavering support and cooperation, assuring that the inconvenience being suffered as a result of the road construction will surely pave way for a sweet and convenient road as well as neat environment for their benefit.
