Okowa salutes Mama Suzanne Elumelu at 95

Governor of Delta, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, has congratulated the matriarch of the Elumelu family, Mrs Suzanne Elumelu, as she clocks 95.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, the governor joined family and friends of the great mother of Chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Mr Tony Elumelu and the Minority Leader of House of Representatives, Rt.Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, in celebrating the nonagenerian.

He described Mama Elumelu as a great mother whose dedication and commitment in raising a successful family was unparalleled.

According to Okowa, Mama's hardwork and vision for the future of her children culminated to their distinguished accomplishments in various fields of endeavour.

He prayed that Mama would live longer to avail her family, Onicha-Ukwu community, Christians and the larger society of her immeasurable counseling and love, adding that Mama's years ahead would be filled with joy and good health for her to continue to enjoy more fruits of her labour.

"On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I congratulate an illustrious mother and nonagenarian, Mama Suzanne Elumelu, on her 95th birth anniversary.

"I thank Mama for her industrious and unrelenting spirit in standing in the gap for her children in spite of her early widowhood.

"Mama Elumelu's success against all odds will continue to inspire many families, while the virtues of fear of God, dedication and hard work which she epitomised in her younger years, will continue to be an example for mothers," Okowa stated.
