FAMILY PLANNING IMPROVES LIVING STANDARDS: BANIGO

 Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has reiterated the importance of Family Planning in the quest to improve the living standard of people.

Dr. Banigo stated this in her goodwill message from the Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday, 11th July 2022, to commemorate the 2022 World Population Day.


According to the Public Health Physician, the State Government in collaboration with implementing partners has built the capacity of health care providers in the public and private sectors to provide quality Family Planning Services and urged the people to take advantage of these services.


The Deputy Governor who is a National and State Family Planning Champion said the State Ministry of Health engages community structures, such as Youth and Community Champions, Community Reproductive Health Influencers, and Religious Leaders, to facilitate counseling in communities and referrals to linked facilities.


It would be recalled that the 11th of July each year has been set aside to commemorate World Population Day. The theme for this year’s celebration is “A world of 8 billion: Towards a resilient future for all – Harnessing opportunities and ensuring rights and choices for all”.

GOs Protest Fraudulent Election Results in Bayelsa

Posted By Tony Okechukwu Members of various non-governmental organisations and civil society groups in Bayelsa State, on Wednesday, staged a peaceful protest over the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in some parts of the state. Comrade Toitoi Newton of the Grassroots For Development, who led the protest to the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Yenagoa, told journalists that the CSOs demand a cancellation of the purported results from Constituency 4 in Southern Ijaw council and Nembe-Bassambiri in Nembe council where election materials were carted away. According to Comrade Newton, elections did not hold in the seven wards of Nembe-Bassambiri due to the violence orchestrated by political thugs aided by security personnel deployed in the community.
