DG Governor's Cup Congratulates Gov. Diri, Bayelsa Queens And Bayelsa United On AITEO Cup Victories

The Director General of the Governor's Cup, Mr Ono Akpe, says the magic wand of the Governor, Senator Douye Diri, is reflecting on every sector of the state, and sports in particular.



Mr Akpe speaking on the background of the victories of Bayelsa Queens and Bayelsa United, at the just concluded AITEO Cup Finals, player at the weekend in Benin, the Edo state capital.


The Director General of Nigeria's biggest grassroot football competition, who was reacting to the development through the Media Officer of the competition, congratulated the state Governor and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, for attracting goodwill in the sports sector.


He stressed that since the miraculous emergence of the present administration in 2020, modest achievements have been recorded.


According to him, the third place finish of Team Bayelsa at the 2020 National Sports Festival held in Benin, Edo state earlier this year, the state Female Handball Team that won the National Handball Championship in Benin last month, the adoption of female wrestler, Blessing Oburududu, which saw her win a silver medal at the just concluded Tokyo Olympic games, and now the victories of the two state-owned teams on Sunday at the finals of the AITEO Cup, is pointer that Bayelsans, are indeed in safe and capable hands.


Mr Akpe also congratulated the Chairmen, board members, and technical dept of both teams for a job well done, adding that they have written their names in gold.


He further used the statement to urge the youths of Bayelsa to remain focused and support the Diri administration, as the prosperity agenda will surely be felt by all. He assured the youths of Bayelsa that the Prosperity Cup 2021 would be held at the end of the year to wrap up the football calender of the state.
