Diri's First Year Performance  Former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has described education as the key to nation building and manpower development.  Dr. Jonathan also said that to liberate people from mental slavery, education must be the top priority of every government.   ….Says Government To Put Up A System To Identify Root Causes Of Banditry Thirty-eight (38) Students including staff and their relatives abducted from the Government Science College Kagara have regained their freedom. Governor Abubakar Sani Bello received the abductees at the Government House, Minna. Addressing the kidnapped victims in a solemn mood, Governor Sani Bello thanked Allah for their safe return, and enjoined them to see their experience as one of the lessons of life and should not be discouraged in their educational pursuit. He said it is a joint effort between the State government, security agents and traditional leaders as well as other relevant stakeholders. The Governor said beyond the release, Government will put up a system to look at the root causes with the view to finding solutions. The remains of the late Deaconess Elizabeth Titi Charles, mother of the Executive Assistant to the Bayelsa State Governor on Public Affairs and Social Orientation, Mr. George Turnah, will be laid to rest on Sunday, February 28. The funeral ceremonies will take place at the Igbu Ishi Egba Playground in her hometown, Edeoha, in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State. Deaconess Charles passed on July 17, 2020 at the age of 67 at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital after a protracted illness. A devoted Christian and member of the Christian Church of God Mission (CCGM), Madam Charles is fondly remembered for her selflessness and industry. An ardent lover of God and mankind, the  Deaconess impacted her community with her faith. She single-handedly built a pastor's residence and children's section at the Edeoha branch of her church, CCGM. Governor Bello Mohammed Matawallen Maradun, Barden Hausa, Shettiman Sokoto today received three more repented Bandits who surrendered their Arms at the Government House, Gusau. Among the repented Bandits was one Muhammadu Sani Zakwi, the son of late Buharin Daji also a one time notorious bandit and two others. Orji Uzor Kalu, who is also the former Governor of Abia State, has called on the Federal Government to set up a joint Security  Committee in Minna, to fastrack the release of students, staff members and relatives abducted from the Government Science College Kagara, last week. The Chief Whip stated this when he came on a sympathy visit to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and the people of the state over the recent cases of abductions in the state. Sen.    ...Calls On FG To Release State's Ecological Fund Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has bemoaned the devastation caused by erosion in several communities across the state. Governor Diri, who visited the ravaged Obogoro community in Yenagoa Local Government Area on Wednesday evening, urged the Federal Government to release the funds meant for ecological disaster to aid the state's erosion control measures. #ENDSARS: Governor Sani Bello Receives State Judicial Panel Of Inquiry Report

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has received report of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up by the state government to investigate alleged Police brutality and abuse of human rights in the state. Presenting the report at the Government House Minna, Justice Ishaku Usman, Chairman of the Panel, said the Panel received 17 petitions, 53 witnesses appeared before it while 50 exhibits were tendered which included; three teeth of a young lady,  three death certificates, 33 empty teargas canisters and four bullet shell. Justice Usman said during the period of their inquest, they saw the good, the bad and the best of personnel of the Nigeria Police. "Your Excellency, in the course of our two months sitting, we saw the good the bad and the best of the personnel of Nigerian police," he said.
