Associates Honour Eradiri As He Bows Out Of BYMEDA Leadership

A little above 25 hours ago, a coterie of select friends, business cum professional associates and few  family members gathered albeit with strict adherence to social distancing stipulations, no apologies to Covd-19 in Yenogoa, the capital city of the oil-rich Bayelsa State.

The A-listers, shakers and movers of the Bayelsa economy came together for one of their own,  Mr. Ebiekure Jasper Eradiri whose 4-year tenure as Director-General, Bayelsa State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (BYMEDA) just came to an end.

He deserved to be celebrated. His achievements, accomplishments, display of managerial and administrative acumen and zeal in taking the SME outfit to greater heights are worthy of celebration. And that is what the gathering succeeded in doing at the surprised low-key celebration they threw in his honour.

Recounting his time in government from 2012 to 2020,  Eradiri, who was appreciative though shocked by the gesture, said he "is full of gratitude to God firstly while also expressing appreciation to H. E. Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson (Former Governor of Bayelsa State of Nigeria) for the privileged invitation to serve in his administration and also H. E. Senator Douye Diri (his successor) for allowing him serve out the remaining months  of his tenure at BYMEDA.

GOs Protest Fraudulent Election Results in Bayelsa

Posted By Tony Okechukwu Members of various non-governmental organisations and civil society groups in Bayelsa State, on Wednesday, staged a peaceful protest over the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in some parts of the state. Comrade Toitoi Newton of the Grassroots For Development, who led the protest to the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Yenagoa, told journalists that the CSOs demand a cancellation of the purported results from Constituency 4 in Southern Ijaw council and Nembe-Bassambiri in Nembe council where election materials were carted away. According to Comrade Newton, elections did not hold in the seven wards of Nembe-Bassambiri due to the violence orchestrated by political thugs aided by security personnel deployed in the community.
