NCAA Approves Commercial Flight Operations At Bayelsa Airport

   . .. .It's A Dream Come True - Gov Diri    After months of expectation, the Bayelsa State-owned airport, on Saturday, finally got the nod of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to commence commercial flight operations.   The NCAA Director General, Dr. Nuhu Musa, presented the regulatory body's approval letter to an elated Governor Douye Diri in Government House, Yenagoa, after the team completed the mandatory inspection of the airport and its facilities. DG Prosperity Cup Congratulates Team Bayelsa

 The Director General of the Governor's Cup, otherwise known as 'Prosperity Cup', Mr. Ono Akpe, has praised Team Bayelsa for its feat at the just concluded 20th National Sports Festival in Benin, Edo State. Mr Akpe described the performance of the athletes as product of hard work and determination to make their state proud, following the charge by the state Governor before the team's departure to the games.    ...We Surpassed Our Expectation - Igali The Bayelsa State  contingent to the just concluded National Sports Festival, Edo 2020, arrived Yenagoa on Thursday to a rousing welcome.   The state placed third at the end of the festival with 56 gold, 55 silver and 58 bronze medals, a feat it achieved for the first time in its history at the festival.   Receiving the contingent at the entrance of the Government House, Governor Douye Diri  congratulated them for making the state and the Ijaw nation proud by their spectacular performance.  According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, the governor had to cut short one of his official engagements to receive the athletes.  Leaders of Constituency Two in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have expressed gratitude to Governor Douye Diri for the ongoing Yenagoa-Oporoma road project.  The Governor Diri administration has undertaken the project from where the previous government of Senator Seriake Dickson stopped. Says Niger Delta Needs Cleanup Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has called on members of the House of Representatives to expedite action on passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) as it would correct some of the injustices faced by oil producing states. Governor Diri made the call on Tuesday when members of the House Committee on Oil Spill Investigation, Cleanup and Remediation in Oil Producing States visited him in Government House, Yenagoa. Bayelsa Govt Resolves Disputed Land Issue With Nigerian Navy

 Following the intervention of the Bayelsa State government, the dispute between some landlords and the Nigerian Navy at Agudama-Epie community has been peacefully resolved. Speaking in his office in Government House, Yenagoa, when he received the report of the committee set up to look into the issues on Monday, Governor Douye Diri stated that available facts show that the Navy were the rightful owners of the land, which was in dispute.  A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, quoted him as commending the committee headed by Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Konbowei Benson, for doing what he described as a good job, which according to him prevented a bloodbath.  The governor also commended the Navy for its patience during the period of the committee's work and stressed the need for individuals and groups, particularly security agencies, to work with the government to sustain the prevailing peace in the state.  He said the government was co...

The PDP governors say Nigeria is in dire need of leadership at the federal level to avert the looming disaster. Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rose from a meeting in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Friday and demanded the devolution of power and restructuring of the country, Channels Television has reported. The governors said that Nigerians were more divided along ethnic and religious lines more than ever before, lamenting that many people now take advantage of the fault lines. This is contained in a communique jointly signed by the governors after the five hours closed-door meeting.
